I’m Karin, and I work for Burma Campaign UK, as well as our sister charity Advance Myanmar.

Advance Myanmar has been helping people in Burma survive since the attempted military coup began almost two years ago. But now we need more money so we can help more people. That is why on Sunday I am running my first ever half marathon, along with my colleague Doug.

Over 1.3 million people are now displaced in Burma. The military is bombing civilians, attacking schools and killing children, and families are hiding in the jungle away from the bombs. They need food, shelter, medicine. Advance Myanmar has been providing that, but right now our money is running out.

It does not take astronomical sums to help people in Burma, a little goes a long way:
* £3,800 helped displaced people in a remote area of Burma with food, medicine and school books for children. They had not received any international aid before Advance Myanmar helped them.
* £5,000 paid for tarpaulin for shelters for people ahead of the rainy season in Karenni State.
* £7,500 helped pay for a new surgery theatre in a bombed-out hospital in Karenni State. It also bought some medicine and food for displaced people.
* £10,000 paid for emergency food supplies for 470 households in Kachin and Northern Shan State.
* £350 paid for medical treatment for a young Rohingya man in a refugee camp. He was shot fleeing Burma in 2017 and the bullet wound was infected, leaving him unable to walk.

Advance Myanmar is helping people all over Burma, and we know our aid reaches the most in need.
