Dear John,

Today is Black Friday and you can support local Black and Brown-owned businesses while you shop great deals.

Did you know Black Americans are just as likely to own businesses as their White counterparts, but their businesses are valued 11 times lower on average? That means Black entrepreneurs don’t get the same return on their investment.

Research shows entrepreneurship sparks upward mobility and is strongly correlated to greater household wealth and income. It’s a powerful tool for enabling Black and Brown individuals, families, and communities to build generational wealth.

Furthermore, November is National Entrepreneurship Month which is even more of a reason to support small businesses!

So today on Black Friday, and throughout the holiday season, remember that you can help drive change for racial wealth equity simply by shopping at local Black and Brown-owned businesses.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Gary Cunningham
