Hi John,
Did you know something as simple as wearing a hoodie can save a life?
A woman tagged Live Action on Instagram with a photo of her wearing one of our sweatshirts. Her caption briefly mentioned that the sweatshirt had prompted a conversation with a mom considering abortion.
We asked the woman wearing the hoodie to elaborate on the story, and here’s what she wrote to us:
She stopped and asked if I had a moment to ask a question about my hoodie. OF COURSE!! She asked had I ever had an abortion. I acknowledged yes I had one in high school. I asked if I could further explain my story, she agreed to listen.
Two years after that first abortion, I was pregnant at 18. Felt pressure to "fix this". Was laying on the table, and by the grace of God the sound was up on the ultrasound. That in that moment I realized all the lies I was told about what abortion was. Nearly 17 years later, that little heartbeat is now almost a high school graduate!
She started crying saying she's in a similar situation. Had one in HS but is now 20. Feels the social pressure to abort, but has had the gut wrenching feeling that it's wrong.
She has family that is very against having this baby, in defense of she has her whole life ahead of her. And that she is scared that she will be alone. I told her that I lost my relationship with my father because I chose my son.
Although I grieve that lost relationship, not a day goes by that I would swap it out for my son.
I was able to give her a number to a woman I met at church who runs a crisis pregnancy center. And assured her she won't be alone, even if it's just me.
I firmly believe the stories of those people who have changed their minds move mountains for those in the middle of what they are told and what they really feel.
The similarities in our stories are remarkable. And to show her a picture of what this life she will save can turn into rocked her to her core.
I don't know if she will choose to raise this baby or choose adoption. But she is choosing LIFE.
John, let this be an encouragement to you. Even small acts of boldness, merely wearing or displaying a pro-life message, can be all someone needs who is on the fence about abortion.
The lies from Big Abortion are louder than ever in mainstream marketing, but it’s often the person-to-person interactions that have the most power. We just have to be willing to be bold.
For life,
