** Reid: GOP Maintains ‘Simplistic Fairy Tale’ of Thanksgiving to Erase Genocide, White Supremacy
------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday on her propaganda show The ReidOut ([link removed]) , anti-American MSNBC racist Joy Reid ([link removed]) predictably declared that she believes Republicans want to portray Thanksgiving as a “simplistic fairy tale” to cover up for America being founded on “violence” and “genocide.”

Reid said, “We begin tonight with Thanksgiving, the day we gather with friends and family to enjoy turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie. We throw on the game and catch up on our lives and discuss or quite possibly argue about religion and politics. For millions of Americans, it’s a day of cherished tradition. As Americans, we value those traditions.”

She continued, “But it is also to unpack the myth of Thanksgiving. It is a holiday riddled with historical inaccuracies. It is built on this myth that the indigenous welcomed their colonizers with open arms and ears of corn. A simplistic fairy tale interpretation of a 1621 encounter between indigenous tribes and English settlers that erases the genocide that followed. It’s the truth that Republicans want banned from our textbooks. Because here is the secret they want so desperately to keep, we are a country founded on violence. Our birth was violent. In 1619, a ship with more than 20 enslaved Africans landed in Virginia, ushering in two centuries of American slavery that left millions in chains or dead. When those humans in bondage were finally free, a terrorist organization that was a card-carrying member of polite society, the Ku Klux Klan, picked up where the Civil War ended using violence to maintain white supremacy.”

This is an insane litany of lies, every word. Europeans did not wage genocide against Native Americans. America was not founded in violence or in white supremacy (nor was it founded in 1619). Republicans do not want the “truth” about Thanksgiving “banned.” And on and on.

It’s hard to wrap one’s head around the racist anger and anti-American hatred that fills Joy Reid’s ugly heart. Shame on MSNBC for giving her a platform, on Thanksgiving Day of all days, to spew her propaganda and lies.

** Reid Says That “Selfish” White Christian Conservatives Believe That America Was “Built for Them”
------------------------------------------------------------

During the January 3, 2022 airing of her MSNBC program The ReidOut, Reid said ([link removed]) :

“They’re white so-called Christian conservatives who feel like this country was built by them for them, and so everyone but them needs to suck it up and let them have their way or else. Their party, the Republicans, have gone from pretending to be the party of personal responsibility to unmasking themselves as the party of selfish people that cannot play well with others. And they even have their own cable networks plus something called GETTR [a social media platform and microblogging site founded in July 2021 by former Donald Trump aide Jason Miller], which kind of sounds like porn. Moving on. So the special citizen says, ‘I don’t want to wear a mask [against coronavirus], and if you try to attack me, I’ll attack the low-waged clerks at the store or at the Burger King. I don’t want to get the [COVID-19] vaccine either. If people get sick from me, oh well, not my problem. Joe Rogan said it’s fine. My kids aren’t going to mask up to protect those other kids. F those other kids, their parents
are probably commies anyway.’ Which usually means people who want rights for other people and who give a damn what happens to them. So this midterm election year, we’re going to find out which brand of citizenship is stronger, and the answer will tell us whether our democracy is strong enough to survive.”
