Friends, voting to impeach the president of the United States was not a decision I came to lightly.

But as a former scientist and businessman, I believe that facts must be the basis for any decision.

And the facts are clear -- Donald Trump abused the powers of his office for his own personal and political gain. He withheld military aid to one of our key allies, pressured a foreign government to interfere in our elections, and systematically obstructed Congress' ability to uncover the truth of his conduct.

But the truth is, national Republicans have been targeting me with attack ads ever since I first called to launch official impeachment proceedings. I need you to stand with me -- will you make a donation of $5 or more today to help send a message that I've got the people on my side?

My decision to vote to impeach the President was not a partisan choice, but an obligation to the oath of office I swore to uphold as a member of Congress -- an oath to rise up and defend the Constitution that our founders fought so hard to create.

And folks, I know that my support for impeachment is a political risk that may cost me my seat in this historically Republican district.

But no matter the end result of this process, I promise that I will continue to do everything I can to fight for a better future for you and generations to come -- to combat the climate crisis, provide affordable, accessible health care to all, and ensure a fair economy that uplifts all Americans.

If you're with me, I'm asking you to chip in right now to help power my re-election campaign and ensure that we defend this seat and our values in 2020 >>
