Today, we’d like to take a moment to thank each and every one of you.

This time last year, we told you our democracy was in grave peril, thanks in no small part to the extremists in Harrisburg who fought to enact racist voter suppression laws aimed at silencing us.

It’s thanks to you, and people like you across the nation, that our very democracy lived on to see another Thanksgiving. While the threat is by no means over, Americans stood up to anti-democratic extremists here and across the nation to defend our democracy.

Here in Pennsylvania, we didn’t just defend our democracy — we flipped the state House, threw extremists out of power, and made massive progress toward a truly representative democracy.

We couldn’t have done it without you, John. Every door we knocked, every voter we registered, and every vote we turned out are all thanks to your support.

And, we’re just getting started. We will continue to center Black, Indigenous and other people of color, immigrant communities and the youth in our work of voter registration, civic education, and mobilization. This is the foundation for achieving a more reflective democracy in Pennsylvania.

The New Pennsylvania Project was founded in May 2021 to expand Pennsylvania’s electorate, so it reflects the Commonwealth’s demographically changing population. In the next four years, NPP will engage and empower young residents and those living in underrepresented immigrant communities and communities of color. We register communities to vote, provide civic education about the issues that matter in their neighborhoods, and mobilize Pennsylvanians to vote in every election.
