It is a special day when we are reminded of the many blessings, family, friends, health, and happiness that this country has provided us. Every day, but especially today on Thanksgiving, I am reminded of all that I have in my life to be grateful for. I am especially thankful for the brave servicemen and women who sacrifice so much to defend our nation, including my son Trey who is a captain in the U.S. Marine Reserves. The 22nd Congressional District is home to more than 50,000 veterans and includes military installations such as the Rome Lab and the Eastern Air Defense Sector. Representing members of our Armed Forces in Congress is a distinct honor, and I will never stop working for those who have served and continue to serve. I am also reminded today of everything this great country has given us. There is not and never has been a country more free and prosperous than the United States of America. To make sure it remains this way for generations to come, it is incumbent upon each of us to do our part by continuing to live with the values of honor, integrity, and compassion at the forefront.
