John, on this Thanksgiving, we'd like to offer a special thanks
to Speaker Pelosi.  It was her leadership that guided us out of one of the
darkest periods of American political history.
Since 2018, she has been leading the way in fighting against Trumpism and
defending democracy.

Speaker Pelosi’s legacy of being a leader in the party spans over 40 years
and she has been instrumental in accomplishing landmark legislation such
as the Affordable Care Act, Don’t Ask Don’t Tell Repeal Act, and the
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Her commitment to the democratic ideals that our country rests upon has
remained a staple in her career and she has used her experience with grace
and determination.
As Americans, we can forget just how young our nation is when compared to
other great empires that have come and fallen before us. When Nancy Pelosi
took charge of the House in 2018, we were facing cataclysmic challenges on
a daily basis. Speaker Pelosi’s civil service to the country has resulted
in both praise and condemnation, particularly with those that align with
the MAGA-Republicans that have used every opportunity to demonize her and
attach her to practices and positions that have no footing in reality.
Nancy Pelosi has been the figurehead that the right wishes to rest all
blame, without any evidence. This, unfortunately, came to horrific
fruition with the recent attack on her husband, Paul Pelosi. And still -
within hours of the news breaking, those aligned with Donald Trump sought
to blame her for the attack.
Speaker Pelosi was a force in the Democratic party that worked to hold
Donald Trump and his administration accountable for their instances of
corruption and lawlessness – from the firing of James Comey to the final
days of the presidency and second impeachment. Nancy Pelosi sought to
spearhead all of these pushes to make sure that she did her due diligence
in securing American integrity.
Then on January 6th, 2021, Speaker Pelosi acted with swiftness during the
chaos and found herself reaching out to multiple parties to try and get
the Capitol Police the support and defense that they needed. This, all
while the majority of MAGA-Republicans blamed her for not directing the
National Guard to come to their aid.
So, while the acting President at the time ignored and stoked the fires,
Nancy Pelosi was able to fight the proverbial smoke and act with the
courage and decency that is asked of all of our elected officials.
Without Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic Party would simply not be the force
that it is today. Without her commitment to our values and our freedoms,
we may have had a much different outcome on January 6th and onward, and
for that, we owe her endless thanks.
As Speaker Pelosi gives up her position as Speaker, she does so in the
same fashion that she accepted the job, with grace and gratitude. The
peaceful transition of power is sewn into the very core of American
Democracy.
