Happy Thanksgiving
As we enter yet another holiday season, it's hard not to acknowledge the major difference that comes with this year— normalcy.
I personally am so grateful that a sense of normalcy has finally returned to my life. But I'm even more grateful that normalcy has returned for our Service Members, Veterans, and supporters.
I'm grateful that VA Hospitals across the country are finally beginning to reopen their doors to volunteers— allowing our Angels to once again engage with Veteran patients, many of whom have been longing for that personal connection for over two years.
I'm grateful that Service Members are moving about the country and the world more freely without additional quarantines. They are also, for the most part, back to their normal duties and responsibilities instead of manning COVID testing sites or helping to sanitize nursing homes.
I'm grateful for our incredible corporate partners who are now back in full force with their armies of employee volunteers. We're witnessing first-hand that within companies of all sizes, there is a renewed sense of desire to give back, to engage, to donate. Incredibly, we have had more corporate engagement events in the last three months than we have had in the last three years!
What's more, many of those employees volunteering at corporate events are Veterans themselves and had been touched by Soldiers' Angels years ago while they were deployed. Talk about the organization coming full circle in the military and veteran community!
Last but definitely not least I'm grateful for our unwavering and unfaltering donors and volunteers. You have all stood by us through two plus years of unprecedented uncertainty. Like seasoned Marines, you have improvised, adapted, and overcome the uncharted twists and turns that came with enduring through a global pandemic.
This path has not been easy— not for any of us. We have all experienced situations and events that we will, hopefully, not experience again in our lifetimes.
But to stand here today and see how far we have come is almost overwhelming.
We couldn't have come this far during a period of time that was so difficult without you.
I will forever be grateful for the unbounding endurance displayed by each and every person that makes up this great organization called Soldiers' Angels.
Thank you all for everything,
Amy Palmer
