Happy Thanksgiving! Today is one of my favorite days of the year. Not only because joining family and loved ones to share in the traditions of the season brings me so much joy, but also because of the opportunity to give thanks.
One of the things I am always thankful for is that we get to live in the greatest country in the world.
Today, as families across America come together to share meals and memories, I encourage each of you to join me in reflecting on the many blessings this country has been given since the first Thanksgiving more than 400 years ago.
Whether, like me, you are an American by choice, or whether you were born here, we are so lucky to live in a country with rich natural resources, the greatest industries and entrepreneurs in history, and artists and culture that have changed humanity for the better.
The freedoms we have here – to speak our minds, to worship how we choose, and build our own American dream – these are things that people all around the world can only hope to have one day.
Our freedoms are precious, and we are so fortunate to be gifted the service and sacrifice of the men and women who make those freedoms possible.
So today, I am grateful for our veterans.
I am grateful for my friends and family.
I am grateful for our beautiful communities in Southern California.
I am so grateful to live in the United States of America. I hope you are too.
Wishing you and your loved ones a very Happy Thanksgiving!
