You may have received my email recently, asking if you could support our urgent winter appeal and help stop the march to nuclear war.

We've had a very encouraging response so far. But, as the war in Ukraine threatens to spiral out of control, we still need to raise around £20,000 if we're to be able to do everything we can to push for peace and ensure the world steps back from the brink of nuclear Armageddon.

Vladimir Putin's illegal invasion of Ukraine has already bought death and destruction to many thousands of ordinary men, women, and children in both Ukraine and Russia. And the recent missile strike in Poland that killed two people shows just how easily the war could escalate into a full-blown nuclear conflict between Russia and NATO states.

War needs to be ended as quickly as possible, through negotiations, rather than dragging out a devastating conflict: the longer it continues, the greater the risk of nuclear weapons being used. It is a matter of urgency that all powers, including the UK and the US, stop escalating the war, before it is too late.

Current UK and US policy is dominated by looking for a military 'solution' to this conflict, and talk of 'tactical' nuclear weapons use is increasing. The war must be ended through dialogue and negotiations before this catastrophe unfolds.

Here is what we're doing to help:

1. Ramping up the pressure on the UK Government to seek a diplomatic and political resolution to the conflict, rather than fanning the flames of war.

2. Urgently opposing the return of US 'tactical' nuclear weapons to the UK, these are the weapons whose use is being discussed.

3. Stepping up our peace education and outreach work with young people, having been inundated with requests for information about nuclear weapons, nuclear war, and peaceful resolutions to conflict, since the war started.

This is all vital work, but we need your help to make it happen. Please, if you can, donate today. We still need to raise around £20,000 with this urgent appeal ([link removed]) . It sounds like a lot, but if we're to make our voices heard as loudly as possible we'll need at least this much for the months ahead.
