I wanted to take a moment to wish you a very happy Thanksgiving before the holiday hullabaloo gets started.
In our current political climate, it’s easy to focus on the things we’re upset about. Trust me; I could name a few. But I think it’s important to keep our chins up and reflect on all the things we are grateful for—and there’s no better time than Thanksgiving.
This year (like every year), I’m thankful for my family first and foremost. My amazing wife Kelly is my rock and an incredible mother to our daughter, Isabel (AKA “the boss”), who makes me so so proud. This summer, Isabel had a medical scare and had to have surgery. While she is still not cleared to get back on her horse, I am so grateful everyone is healthy and home.
I also want to send a huge “thank you” to the people of Tennessee. It is the honor of my life to serve as your congressman and fight for you. I’m not a big fan of Washington, but I love Tennessee, and I love representing East Tennessee.
Of course, I am thankful to be an American. Waking up each morning in the greatest country on Earth is a blessing that we owe to the sacrifice of the men and women in our armed services.
So while you gather around the dining room table tomorrow, think about what you are thankful for. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
