→ The Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) would provide families with the tools, safeguards, and transparency they need to protect against threats to children’s health and well-being online. The legislation would require that social media platforms put the interests of children first by providing minors with options to protect their information, disable addictive product features, and opt-out of algorithmic recommendations — and requires platforms to enable the strongest settings by default.
→ The American Innovation and Choice Online Act (AICOA) would prevent dominant platforms from rigging marketplaces – by self-preferencing and picking winners and losers – and increase opportunity for small businesses and entrepreneurs. Rather than gatekeepers constantly favoring their own products or kneecapping competitors to pad their profits, this bill would level the playing field and put real choice in the hands of consumers.
These bills represent a real and meaningful opportunity to improve the digital landscape and online experience for young people. Join us in supporting these two bills by adding your name to our youth letter to Congress.
