On Tuesday, I joined Leader McCarthy and other Republicans for a tour of our southern border in El Paso. Across the river from us were camps of immigrants just waiting for the right moment to cross illegally into the United States. There have been over 4 million illegal crossings since Biden took office, and yet this administration doesn’t care. They have allowed our border to fall under the control of the Mexican drug cartels, some of the most capable, best equipped, best funded and most ruthless and dangerous organizations in the world.
This is not just an immigration crisis. This is a national security crisis. These cartels flood our country with deadly fentanyl that kills nearly 80,000 Americans a year. This is a war and the Biden Administration is doing nothing about it.
During a press conference at the border, I spoke this message in Spanish to the cartel leaders:
To the cartels: Ismael Mario Zambada Garcia, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, Juan Pablo Ledezma, and others. Your vacation is over. Now you will be prosecuted. We’re coming for your money, we’re coming for your mansions, we’re coming for your liberty. We are not going to ignore your crimes against our country and against our citizens. Starting now, you will not be able to hide and now your reign of terror is over.
These cartels don't fear us now. But they will soon.
