As you gather with family and loved ones this week, I hope you have a wonderful, safe Thanksgiving. I’m taking the opportunity to reflect on everything I’m thankful for, including the privilege to represent the people of New Hampshire’s Second Congressional District in Congress.

The open Enrollment Period to sign up or make changes to your health insurance through the Affordable Care Act Marketplace has begun. Visit HealthCare.gov to browse plans – if you need assistance learning more about which plan is right for you and your family, help is available. Medicare’s open enrollment period to join, switch, or change a Medicare Health Plan or Medicare Advantage Plan has begun and will remain open until Wednesday, December 7th. This is an opportunity for seniors to enroll or make changes to their coverage that will take effect on January 1st, 2023.

There are additional open enrollment periods and opportunities to make changes to your coverage throughout the year, depending on your individual situation. For additional information on your Medicare options and details, click HERE.

On January 1, 2023, Medicare Part D will cover CDC-recommended vaccines at no cost.

Studies show people often skip important vaccines when they are costly and not fully covered. Life-saving, crucial vaccines can cost hundreds of dollars – a financial burden that many seniors, especially those on a fixed income, struggle to take on.

As a senior member of the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee, I have been working to ensure that life-saving vaccines are available to seniors on Medicare at no cost. I’m thrilled that thanks to my legislation which was included in the Inflation Reduction Act, CDC-recommended vaccines like Shingles and Tdap will be available to seniors on Medicare with $0 in out-of-pocket costs, beginning on January 1, 2023.

Hearing aids are now available over the counter without a prescription or exam at many pharmacies and local stores. Read more HERE. This could save Granite Staters thousands of dollars and will remove financial barriers to getting hearing aids.

As always, the CDC and the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services are the best resources to turn to for information about COVID-19. If you are sick, stay home and call your health care provider.
