In October, a support organisation saw our campaign and contacted us about a young Ukrainian woman they believed was being exploited. Nataliya*, who fled Ukraine in search of safety with her daughter found accommodation and work sharing a caravan on an English farm through the government resettlement scheme in April 2022. They worked 12 hour days, with one weekend off/month. When Nataliya's daughter said she couldn't continue this strenuous labour, she was kicked out the caravan, and had to return to Ukraine in fear of homelessness. Nataliya was extremely frightened to leave and has no documents, national insurance number, hospital registration or knowledge about universal credit. She didn't have a work contract and understood the labour to be a requirement for her accommodation. Her only choice was to return to her destroyed city in Ukraine, or live on the streets. That's when STOP THE TRAFFIK was contacted for advice.
