The world is taking a significant step toward combating climate change, and we couldn’t be more grateful this Thanksgiving.

Brazil, Indonesia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo are pledging to work together to establish a “funding mechanism” to help preserve tropical rainforests, which help regulate the Earth’s climate and sustain countless species of plants and animals.

The three nations are home to more than half of the world’s tropical rainforests.

An agreement between the countries signed two weeks ago promises cooperation on issues such as sustainable management and conservation, the restoration of essential ecosystems, and the creation of economies ensuring the health of people and the forests.

The agreement is tremendous progress in the ongoing work to protect the Amazon and other rainforests worldwide, John. It’s happening because activists like you stepped up, spoke out, and held deforesters accountable.
