Dear MoveOn member,
We did it. We mobilized voters in huge numbers,
prevented a red wave, held the Senate, elected pro-democracy governors and
secretaries of state, and helped elect and defend Democrats and
progressives in the House. The work isn't finished and we're giving our
all to reelect Senator Raphael Warnock in Georgia—[ [link removed] ]you can join that
work now! Building off of what we accomplished leading up to November 8,
we know we can win Georgia as well.
Together,
millions of MoveOn members taking people-powered action contributed to the
most successful midterm election for the party in power in decades—bucking
history, defeating many hardcore MAGA Republicans, and defending
democracy.
Here's some of what we accomplished together:
* Ran the largest relational organizing program in the country and
specifically recruited tens of thousands of MoveOn members to triple
their vote, resulting in 240,000 surge voters pledging to vote who
might not have otherwise in key battleground states.
* Identified and targeted "surge voters"—first-time voters in 2018 and
2020 who may align with the Democratic agenda and progressive causes
but were less likely to vote in 2022—and reached 4.3 million of them.
* Contacted more than 42 million voters to help them make a plan to vote
* Raised $1.5 million directly for Senate, House, gubernatorial, and
secretary of state candidates—some of whom beat the biggest election
deniers in the country.
* Produced nine rallies in battleground states with NextGen America and
Senator Bernie Sanders—engaging tens of thousands of young voters and
inspiring them to vote in battleground states.
* Elevated the issues of abortion rights, democracy, health care costs,
climate, and student debt relief through direct organizing,
media-grabbing actions, and millions of dollars targeted ad buys
across key states.
* Worked with cultural leaders to promote pro-voting and pro-democracy
messages—from celebrity engagement with Nail the Vote nail art to
guest speakers at our virtual rallies to participants in our phone
banks.
[ [link removed] ]What we accomplished in the midterms
Many factors played into this election's results—and you can be proud
you were part of a community
that contributed in impactful ways where it mattered most.
As early analysis has shown, our strategy targeted the right set of voters
with a resonant array of messages. In short, the folks who helped lead to
Democrats' and progressives' electoral success were some of the very
people our program focused on and were motivated by the issues we
centered. Which means that every call, text, social share, polling place
contact, and relational outreach contributed to some of the razor-thin
victories that were decisive in this election.
We didn't win every race, and a GOP House will be a hotbed of MAGA
conspiracy theories and attacks. But we helped create a more favorable
political landscape for the next two years, we sent a clear national
message of rejection of MAGA's extremism, and we built momentum around
issues that matter deeply—and we'll keep organizing around these in the
weeks, months, and years to come.
Thank you for all you did. From making a grassroots donation to
spending a few hours calling MoveOn members in swing districts to sharing
hard-hitting content online to joining our weekly Rallies for Democracy to
participating in the endorsement voters of the 85 candidates MoveOn
members endorsed up and down the ballot, each of these actions and so many
more contributed to the impact MoveOn had on these historic,
consequential, and powerful midterm election results.
We haven't rested since.
* On Tuesday, November 15, we kicked off our program to reelect Senator
Raphael Warnock in Georgia—thousands joined our live stream and began
to sign up for phonebanking shifts and vote tripling among Georgia
voters. [ [link removed] ]Sign up to reach out to Georgia voters now and help us win.
* On Wednesday, November 16, hundreds of thousands of MoveOn members
took collective action in response to Trump's announced
candidacy—ordering stickers to display visual opposition to Trump,
signing petitions to call on networks to stop giving him free airtime
and on officials to hold him accountable for his role in the
insurrection, and contributing now to defeat Trump ... again.
* And on Thursday, November 17, we applauded the advancement of the
Respect for Marriage Act in the Senate—making a move toward an
important step in recognizing same-sex and interracial marriages and
protecting our equality from attacks from the illegitimate Supreme
Court. While there is so much more progress we need to make for real
equality, it was a sign that this final session of Congress can still
make progress—and we'll push them to do even more over the final six
weeks.
MoveOn members pulled together for the largest midterm election program in
our 24-year history. The stakes were just that high—and our energy,
engagement, and impact matched the moment.
Thank you for being a part of this vibrant community
that works for an America for all. Thanks for how you participated up
through Election Day—and your continued partnership as, together, we
advance a world of justice, sustainability, equality, and love.
Thanks for all you do.

P.S. [ [link removed] ]Sign up now to power our voter outreach work to reelect Sen.
Warnock.
Want to support MoveOn's work? Voters just defied history and stopped a
MAGA wave of extremism at the polls. But there is more work to do to end
the filibuster, codify abortion rights into law, and defend our freedoms,
our families, and our futures. We can accomplish all this and more, but
only if we work together.
Will you chip in monthly to power our critical work?
[ [link removed] ]Yes, I'll chip in $5 a month.
[ [link removed] ]No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.
