The 2022 election season is finally over in New York, and now that all the votes have been counted, we're excited to congratulate BYD-endorsed candidate Iwen Chu on her victory in the race for State Senate District 17!
With her win, Iwen makes history as the first Asian woman in the New York State Senate. We know she'll fight hard for her community, and for a fairer, safer, more resilient New York. We're so excited to work with her on behalf of young Brooklynites in SD17 and across the borough!
This win wouldn't have been possible without all of you, the members of BYD, who spent months knocking on doors, making phone calls and getting out the vote. Thank you for your tireless efforts to make Brooklyn a better place.
We also want to congratulate Assembly Member Mathylde Frontus on a hard-fought campaign in Assembly District 46. Though the race didn't end the way we'd hoped, BYD was proud to endorse her, and we're looking forward to working with such a couragous community leader in the future.
While the 2022 races are finished in New York, the fight isn't quite over: in Georgia, we've still got one crucial fight to win.
Join our friends at the Independent Neighborhood Democrats at 6:00pm on Tuesday, November 29th to make calls for Senator Raphael Warnock as he seeks to win a runoff election to stay in the Senate!
When Warnock first won his seat in a special election last year, he not only helped Democrats take power in Washington; he also became Georgia's first African-American Senator. Since then, he's fought to expand access to affordable health care, protect voting rights, and ensure the dignity of working people.
Now, Warnock is facing off again a Republican opponent that is, frankly, unfit for office. We need to ensure Warnock holds on to this seat, and send a clear message to Washington that Americans want progress, not distractions.
