To LULAC Familia,
I want to share a brief update on a very positive meeting of the LULAC Institute
(LI) and LULAC National (LNO) Boards this past weekend in Washington DC, as
called for in our Constitution.
The national vice presidents’ and state directors' reports show many of you are
busy with the work of LULAC in your local communities. Also, national staff
provided financial, programs,and communications updates.
LULAC is achieving unprecedented news coverage for our work on behalf of millions
of Latinos. In just the past six months, LULAC was featured in 7,450 stories. We
set a record reach of 28.8 billion combined audiences, which means every person
in the U.S. and Puerto Rico had a chance to see the LULAC name 77 times! New
Lulac councils are being created in states like Wyoming , Idaho , and Nevada .
Now, we see 2023 on the horizon and in a few days, we unveil a new National
Headquarters and a bilingual LULAC podcast featuring you, our members, and your
stories, plus a revamped website and the return of LULAC News magazine on a
regular basis.
Friends, LULAC is on the move forward and we will not stop. There is too much at
stake and our work is more important than ever. To carry out our mission, our new
first focus is our LULAC councils. Therefore, I have approved a LULAC Council
Helpline and a LULAC Council Quick Response Team to assist you. From now on when
you call national HQ the phones will be answered and support provided .
LULAC is also focusing on growing its young adults and shaping policies in
Washington and Statehouses nationwide. With that, I am announcing that we are
also expanding the Membership and the Policy and Legislation Departments with two
new major positions. We are also announcing a national search for a new CEO .
This week, we pause to give thanks and be with our loved ones as the holiday
season begins. Best wishes from Elba and me, as well as our two sons. Serving you
has been an honor and a privilege. As our LULAC prayer reminds us, during
troubled times, we are tested but God provides the strength to press on. Todo se
puede con ganas !
May His Spirit be with you and yours, and may this Thanksgiving be filled with a
bounty of blessings.
Los aprecio mucho y que Dios los bendiga
Domingo Garcia
LULAC National President
