At many universities throughout the country, the right of Jewish and Zionist students to exercise their own free speech has been severely assaulted by the deafening emotional vitriol of the Boycott, Divest and Sanction, and other pro-Palestinian movements. This does not just occur on the campus but in the classroom by highly biased professors and kindergarten through 12th-grade classroom teachers, who have chosen a narrative that makes the Palestinians into the David and Israel into the Goliath, slowly but steadily corroding the image of Israel as a moral state in the eyes of the present and future generations.
EMET has passed legislation to amend Title VI of the Higher Education Act, calling for “a diversity of viewpoints” and a “wide range of perspectives” to be heard in the classroom, and worked on the Antisemitism Awareness Act to ensure that Jewish and pro-Israel students receive the same Constitutional protections as any other minority group on the college campus. EMET will not rest until the concept of “free speech” is allowed not only for one side of the debate but also for our pro-Israel and Zionist students.
