Good morning,

I think you’ll enjoy seeing what your fellow readers are thankful for this year.

Here is the Texas Minute for Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022.

– Michael Quinn Sullivan

Republican Members of the State Board of Education Vote Against School Choice Despite it being a top legislative priority for the Republican Party of Texas, GOP members of the State Board of Education joined Democrats in opposing school choice. Sydnie Henry has the details [[link removed]].

The SBOE is composed of 15 members elected from geographic districts around the state; nine are Republicans and six are Democrats. In an 11-2 vote, with two Republicans abstaining, the SBOE adopted a resolution opposing school choice for the 2023 legislative session.

“The Texas State Board of Education calls on the Texas Legislature to reject all attempts to divert public dollars away from public schools in the form of vouchers, an education savings account, taxpayer savings grants, tuition-tax credits, a business franchise tax credit or an insurance premium tax credit, or any other mechanisms that have the effect of reducing funding to public schools.”

Check out Sydnie’s article [[link removed]] to see how your SBOE member voted. Fort Worth ISD Superintendent Pushes Leftist Agenda As parents fight racist ideologies in their children’s schools, Fort Worth ISD’s newly minted superintendent, Dr. Angélica Ramsey, announced at a breakfast meeting [[link removed]] that the system must be “reinvented” because “the truth is that black, brown, and poor kids in this country do not get the education they deserve because we’re in a system that wasn’t built for us.”

According to Ramsey, who has a history of supporting the radical “diversity, equity, and inclusion” agenda of the far left, minorities were “integrated into their system, not the other way around.”

Congrats, Fort Worth taxpayers; your superintendent is a racist dolt.

Meanwhile, as Fort Worth ISD’s student test scores continue their decline, Ramsey belittled as “haters” any parents or citizens who are concerned with her overarching political agenda [[link removed]]. She promised to “keep pushing forward” with her radical policies – no matter the academic cost.

“Superintendent Ramsey has shown her true ideological colors,” said local Fort Worth activist Carlos Turcios. “It’s strange how she has said she would listen to every parent, yet she attacks conservatives for being haters and being afraid.” INVESTIGATIVE SERIES: Deep State War Against Kids This week, the Texas Scorecard investigative team examines the risks surgical mutilation and hormone manipulation pose to minors, while exposing the deep state actors, activist lawyers, and politicized professionals in Texas that support these abusive medical procedures. The series will also explore what citizens can do to protect children in the Lone Star State.

In the latest installment, Robert Montoya exposes [[link removed]] forces within state government that are determined to shield these risky procedures and protect those who conduct them. These actors range from agency employees to the highest political reaches of state government. Pentagon Slammed For ‘Woke’ Ideology A new report from the offices of U.S. Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) and U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) reveal how Pentagon leaders are pushing woke ideologies, such as critical race theory and gender theory, within the military. Emily Wilkerson has the story [[link removed]].

“The Department of Defense’s priority should be training the men and women of our Armed Forces to be a united, lethal, and battle-ready force primed to defend the United States and her interests at a moment’s notice. Instead, Biden’s woke Pentagon is using taxpayer dollars to promote blatant anti-American ideology. It has to stop. We need to end this politicization of our military and keep our Armed Forces focused on defending our national security.” – U.S. Rep. Chip Roy [[link removed]] MACIAS: Being Thankful In the latest edition of his podcast [[link removed]], Luke Macias explains why Texas conservatives should be thankful… even when House Speaker Dade Phelan and three of his GOP cronies – State Reps. Dustin Burrows, Brooks Landgraf, and Ken King – are trying to thwart GOP policy. Training The Next Generation! Y’All Answered [[link removed]]

Yesterday, we asked readers if the appropriate side for turkey was “dressing” or “stuffing.” As it turns out, 65.4 percent think it is dressing (a separate dish made on the side), compared to 34.6 percent who say stuffing (in which the dish is cooked inside the cavity of the bird).
