From familiar wildlife to the planet's most unique, your support makes the future brighter for all. You are the heartbeat of our global conservation work, and we are so grateful to have you as an ally. Thank you for all you've made possible this year for wildlife in San Diego and around the globe.
Your support fuels collaborative conservation efforts in eight Conservation Hubs worldwide, including protecting platypuses through our Australian Forest Conservation Hub. Hiding in freshwater streams, creeks, and lakes, these unusual egg-laying mammals are difficult to find.
Aided by webbed feet and a paddle-like tail, these small, graceful swimmers spend almost half their lives in the water. And as their habitats are increasingly threatened, concern grows for platypuses—but this elusive species is still not well understood, making it difficult to gauge exactly how they're being affected. Your support helps us work with partners to find and protect platypuses.
Explore how you're helping to save Australia's native wildlife, take a peek at Platypus Cam live from the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, and dive underwater with Eve and Birra—the only platypuses being cared for outside of Australia—during your next visit to the Safari Park.

BRINGING STORKS TOGETHER
|
As mangrove and wetland habitats disappear across Southeast Asia, native species like the endangered milky stork are increasingly threatened. But hope is hatching for these remarkable birds right here in San Diego. Last year, all milky storks being cared for in North America were brought to the Safari Park as part of a collaborative effort between accredited zoos and other wildlife sanctuaries to boost their dwindling numbers and help save the species. Our efforts have already been successful, and this conservation breeding colony has already seen chicks hatch—critical to increasing the global population of this endangered species. With you by our side, we're working to secure the future for milky storks and other wildlife that need our help, including tigers and orangutans, through our Asian Rainforest Conservation Hub.

PLANTS WITH AN APPETITE
|
Found anywhere from acidic bogs and frigid streams to steamy rainforests, carnivorous plants survive—and thrive—in extreme environments. These fascinating meat eaters can be found on every continent except Antarctica. Yet even with their remarkable adaptability, carnivorous plants are highly vulnerable. Today, many species are at risk, and up to 25 percent are threatened with extinction. Discover the mesmerizing world of carnivorous plants, and see how your support fuels critical plant conservation around the globe.

BIG BIRDS, BIG IMPACT
|
Their powerful claws, large bodies, and casqued heads make these velociraptor-looking birds seem almost prehistoric; however, cassowaries are a critical part of their modern-day ecosystems. Acting as key gardeners in their Australian rainforest habitats, they protect biodiversity by consuming and dispersing the seeds of several hundred plant species. Visit these beautiful birds at the Safari Park and explore how–just like the cassowary–you support thriving ecosystems through our Australian Forest Conservation Hub. |
