Youngkin’s attempt to rewrite history and overhaul Virginia’s public education system is not going according to plan. Under intense pressure, he is starting to admit some mistakes and “omissions”.

As you may recall, last week Youngkin got into trouble when his draft history standards for elementary schools were released, with some key details missing. The new curriculum completely erased Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Juneteenth, and other milestones in Black American history.

Notably present in his new standards were Confederate traitors like Jefferson Davis and Robert E. Lee, and ancient rulers like Hammurabi and Marcus Aurelius.

John, now that this is starting to bite him the derrière, Youngkin wants to claim it was an omission, but we know the truth. This was a sin of commission; a bow to white supremacists, and he needs to be held accountable. The new curriculum even referred to Native Americans as “America’s first immigrants”. This week, as we head into Thanksgiving, State Superintendent Jillian Balow apologized for this “oversight”.

Of course, Youngkin is trying to sweep this under the rug, but the truth is that public pressure is working, and we need to keep it up.
