AKRON, OH — Congresswoman-Elect Emilia Sykes made history earlier this month on election day when the voters of Ohio’s 13th Congressional District elected her to serve in Congress, making her the first-ever woman to represent this district. Congresswoman-Elect Sykes spent the last week in Washington, D.C. at the U.S. Capitol preparing to take office.
“I can’t thank my community enough for entrusting me with the incredible responsibility of serving us in Congress,” said Congresswoman-Elect Emilia Sykes. “I’m eager to get to work as soon as possible so I can ensure Ohio’s 13th Congressional District has access to good-paying jobs, lower costs, quality and affordable education, and even safer communities. I know this work is going to require a team effort, and I’m looking for dedicated public servants who are willing to join me in working for this community.
Now more than ever, it’s critical our district has leaders who are working to strengthen our neighborhoods and are ready to devote their energy to fighting for what’s best for Ohio 13. I look forward to continuing to be that leader and to working alongside those ready to serve.”
The office of Congresswoman-Elect Sykes is currently accepting resumes for those who wish to work in either the Washington, D.C. or Northeast Ohio district office. Those interested in applying should send their resume to [email protected].
