Those words were echoed many times over on Friday, November 11 as the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) and the Commanders? Task Force (CTF) hosted the first in-person Veterans Day program since 2019. More than 400 people joined us at the Inver Grove Heights Veterans Memorial Community Center and another 400 viewed the program via livestream. David Dunn has been named Administrator for the Minnesota Veterans Home - Preston, which is scheduled to open in mid-2023. Dave has more than 18 years of experience as an administrator in nursing homes and other healthcare facilities. He holds a Master of Science in Health Care Administration and is also a 15-year Veteran of the United States Air Force.

Since July, more than 20,000 Veterans who served during the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) have applied for a bonus payment to recognize their service.
During the 2022 Minnesota Legislative session, the Post-9/11 Veteran Service Bonus program was included as part of the Veterans Omnibus Bill signed by Governor Tim Walz. The law includes nearly $25 million for service bonuses to post-9/11 era Veterans and Gold Star Families.

The area known today as the State of Minnesota is located on ancestral and contemporary lands that have been called home by Indigenous Peoples since time immemorial. This land is home to many Tribal Nations, including the Anishinaabe, Dakota, Ojibwe, Ho-Chunk, Cheyenne, Oto, Iowa, Hidatsa, Arikara, A?aninin, Cree, Blackfeet, Assiniboine, and the Sac and Fox peoples.
