Friends,

J Street’s election night polling showed that 74% of Jewish Americans
voted for Democratic candidates in the midterms. It’s a figure Donald
Trump is having trouble processing.

“What the hell is going on here?” he said at a recent event hosted by a
far-right ‘pro-Israel’ group, blasting “too many” American Jews for “not
doing the right thing for Israel.”

Here’s what he doesn’t understand: You can’t expect credit from Jewish
voters for going ‘all in’ with Netanyahu and the far-right settlement
movement.

Our community wants a safe, just, democratic Israel. None of that requires
more settlements, home demolitions or endless occupation. Quite the
opposite.

* Almost 90% of American Jewish voters believe you can be pro-Israel
while also objecting to Israeli government policy;
* Netanyahu is deeply unpopular, with a favorability rating at negative
26%;
* Over 75% of folks want even-handed US leadership, even if it means
putting pressure on the Israeli government as well as the Palestinians
to make compromises to ensure true security and peace.

Trump is stuck with an old-school ‘pro-Israel’ political playbook.
Unfortunately, he’s not alone. Too many elected officials still think that
way, and our work continues to be vital.

Friends -- Can you help fight back against an outdated, harmful
political playbook and join us to press for just, principled US
leadership? [ [link removed] ]Your contribution of any amount will strengthen our

With right-wing leaders coming to power in Israel -- and the looming
specter of increased settlement expansion, surges in violence and even
potential annexation -- our work is more important than ever.

Together, let’s show Trump that “doing the right thing for Israel” means
showing that there is no contradiction -- none -- in supporting Israel's
secure, democratic future as a homeland for the Jewish people while loudly
and unapologetically championing the full, equal and independent rights of
Arab-Israelis and Palestinians.

Together, we can bring about a more just, pro-Israel, pro-peace,
pro-democracy, principled vision for American leadership. One which truly
reflects the values and ideals championed by our community and upon which
Israel itself was founded.
