I hope everyone is doing well. I’ve been back in Washington, D.C. voting on legislation to benefit South Texas and grow our community. In that same vein, I wanted to share with you all some resources that may be helpful to you.

Federal Communications Commission Affordable Connectivity Program

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law authorized additional funding for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) which is designed to expand broadband and lower costs for households. 
Eligible households may be able to receive:  

  • Up to a $30/month discount on your internet service
  • Up to a $75/month discount if your household is on qualifying Tribal lands
  • A one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer (with a co-payment of more than $10 but less than $50)
  • A low-cost service plan that may be fully covered through the ACP*

Local housing agencies, non-profit organizations, school districts and local government entities may be able to apply to the “Your Home, Your Internet Pilot Program (YHYI) Outreach Grant” or the “ACP Navigator Pilot Program (NPP) Outreach Grant” to increase awareness around the program. Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program 

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) has received an additional $100 million from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to help states assist low-income individuals with home energy costs. 


LIHEAP income-eligibility limits are up to the discretion of the state of Texas; individuals can find their LIHEAP Office here


Small Business Administration Grants 

The Small Business Administration (SBA) offers grants for community organizations and to support small business growth and development. 

U.S. Department of Agriculture Emergency Loans Due to Drought 

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) extended the emergency credit to those recovering from drought. Guadalupe and Karnes County are eligible to receive assistance to be used for recovery needs such as replacing equipment or livestock. 
The deadline to apply is January 3, 2022.
