Hi John,

Next Tuesday, November 29th, we launch our #BetterSharing #GivingTuesday campaign, inviting you to help us raise $100,000 before the end of this year. ([link removed])

Your donations will support the future of our CC licenses, which require a lot of money 💰 and work to maintain.

We’re a nonprofit that's made a big impact with these licenses. They’re a global standard and power open sharing on popular platforms like Wikipedia, Flickr, YouTube, Medium, Vimeo, and Khan Academy.

However, the reality is: the CC licenses have been difficult to fundraise for ([link removed]) 👀

We understand why. New and innovative projects are often more exciting. But even emerging technologies, like Artificial Intelligence, the decentralized web, and NFTs, rely on earlier ideas, tools, and infrastructure. Many creators selling NFTs are using CC licenses - some even dedicating their work to the public domain! The CC licenses are core infrastructure for new and longstanding technology. We have to take care of them.

Especially when the CC licenses are key to protecting a healthy public commons. They help us open up knowledge and inspire creativity and we need to do both of those things to have any chance at addressing the world’s most pressing challenges.

We hope you see where we’re coming from? If you do, it would mean the world to us if this #GivingTuesday you made a donation. ([link removed]) We know this is a difficult time for many, and are immensely grateful for any gift, small or large, you make to Creative Commons.

Tha
nk You!
