U.S. Office of Personnel Management to Host Virtual Summit on DEIA and Government Approach to Disability Employment

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) will host the virtual event "DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility) Summit 2022: A Whole-of-Government Approach to Disability Employment" on December 6 ? 8, 2022. The Summit is developed in collaboration with the White House Domestic Policy Council, U.S. Office of Management and Budget, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, U.S. Department of Labor?s Office of Disability Employment Policy, U.S General Services Administration, and U.S. Access Board. The Summit will focus on approaches to integrating disability employment across all areas of DEIA in the federal workforce. Over the three days, agency practitioners will provide presentations, skill-builder sessions, and panel discussions on various topics, including reasonable accommodations, equity and civil rights for people with disabilities, accessibility in strategic plans and mission priorities, best practices for accessibility in built and digital workplaces, and strategic recruitment, hiring, and retention.

The Job Accommodation Network has a series of role play training videos and presentation slide decks depicting situations that are frequently experienced in the workplace. These videos include scenarios in multiple industries with people of varying disabilities during all phases of the employee?s life cycle. Each scenario culminates in a solution to the accommodation situation highlighted. Videos showing the accommodations and solutions are accompanied by a slide presentation providing learning points from the video.
