Next Tuesday, November 29th, is GivingTuesday - a global celebration of generosity. It’s an opportunity to reimagine a world built on shared humanity and radical generosity. In light of this annual day of collective giving, if you haven’t already, please consider supporting World BEYOND War this GivingTuesday by setting-up a recurring donation.
Another way to donate next week is by setting up a Facebook fundraiser on behalf of World BEYOND War. We recognize that Facebook is not for everyone and that the company that manages the platform can be problematic - but there are also millions of people sharing important information through its channel and we hope to leverage that to grow the anti-war movement. So, if you use Facebook, now is the time to set up a fundraiser to support World BEYOND War’s work to end war and build a just and sustainable peace. Here’s how.
If you’re looking for a specific project to fundraise for, here are two ideas you could highlight:
Behind the scenes, we have been building a first of its kind visual database about militarism across the globe. Recently, we launched the U.S. military bases database and with increased funding, we can continue research and development of the tool so it can be accessed and used by activists, journalists, policy makers, and others to track U.S. military bases and all other nations' foreign military bases and the impact they’re having across the globe. Raising money in your Facebook fundraiser would help support development of this novel and comprehensive tool that has the opportunity to shape policy and change minds about the U.S. empire.
Last year we launched a Youth Network to help grow a global youth movement of young activists and allied organizations. Run for and by young people, we’re hoping this will help close the gap in intergenerational peace building work. However, we don’t have the resources to continue growing and managing it and are currently fundraising to hire a part-time Youth Coordinator who will not only help grow the network with young people from around the world, but also share information and promote its impact via social media and other digital channels. Money raised on GivingTuesday could help support this project as well.
Thank you for showing up for peace every day and especially on these annual days of collective action. Donating is only one way to take action — but a very important one — and we appreciate all of the work you do to make our world and planet safer for all of us.
