Hi Revealer,

The Amazon shopping deals are here. You’ve probably seen countless emails or social media posts about it already. But who pays the price for one of Amazon’s busiest weeks of the year? Amazon’s warehouse workers.

Amazon’s obsession with speed has turned its warehouses into injury mills – and, thanks to confidential records we obtained, we know the rates of injury only intensified during times like Cyber Monday. Not only were Amazon’s injury rates far worse than the national average for the warehousing industry, but the company has also deceived the public about this problem.

Reveal’s reporting on Amazon’s injury crisis has helped lead to:
* New legislation ([link removed]) to protect workers
* Groundbreaking fines ([link removed]) against the company
* An ongoing federal investigation ([link removed])
* And more ([link removed])

Now, when there’s a story about how Amazon claims new robotic technology will make warehouses safer for employees, our reporting – which found Amazon warehouses with robots have higher injury rates – is cited as a check on corporate claims.

We started investigating Amazon in 2019. I’d heard that the company’s injury rates were sky high, even as Amazon claimed to be safe, so I wanted to see if there was evidence to prove it. It was hard to get, but we eventually burst through Amazon’s secrecy. After showing the true toll of Amazon’s relentless drive for speed, and how the company hid its safety crisis, we knew there was more to expose. We went on to show how Amazon failed to protect sensitive data and drastically undercounted its carbon footprint.
We’ve devoted nearly four years to pulling back the curtain on Amazon’s wrongdoing. But to continue to do that kind of work, we must rely on the generosity ([link removed]) of our listeners, readers and viewers to fund this work.

Please donate today ([link removed]) to support journalism that perseveres. We need your support ([link removed]) to continue devoting the time and care to this important work.
