Marriage is on the Line and Republicans Must Defend It

Daily Signal: Republicans who voted for the Respect for Marriage Act on Wednesday still have time to reverse course and take a stand against the radical legislation. Many of these lawmakers claim that the much-discussed legislation protects religious liberty. But opponents of the bill warn that it “puts a giant target on people of faith.” The legislation repeals the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act, obliges those “acting under color of state law” to recognize same-sex marriages, and orders the federal government to recognize marriages that are deemed valid by one or more states (Daily Signal). Fox News: But the bill offers no such protections. It is not a compromise, not even a bad compromise. It enshrines a false definition of marriage in our law and then tells people they can have their day in court if and when they get sued. That’s not public policy for the common good. Republican senators must hold strong and defend what is true and good. Marriage is a natural and supernatural institution before it is a political institution (Fox News).

CBS News Finally Acknowledges Hunter Biden’s Laptop is Real… Two Years Later
Daily Wire: On November 21, CBS News finally aired a segment “confirming” that it “independently verified” the contents of the president’s son’s computer which he left behind at a Delaware repair shop. This “news” came nearly two and a half years after the laptop first popped up during the 2020 election cycle (Daily Wire). Clay Travis: Two years after anyone with a functional brain realized the Hunter Biden laptop was 100% real @CBSNews has finally gotten around to reporting the Hunter Biden laptop is 100% real (Twitter). Editor of National Pulse Raheem Kassam: SURPRISE!!! Two years after many of us broke much news and independently authenticated Hunter Biden’s laptop, CBS news says “Yep, it’s real, and it’s bad” (Twitter). Reporter Anders Hagstrom: This exchange between Trump and Lesley Stahl is insane. She repeatedly insists the Biden laptops “can’t be verified” so reporters shouldn’t talk about it. Trump asks her why it can’t be verified. Her answer: “Because it can’t be verified” (Twitter).

Rail Union Rejects Biden-Brokered Deal
National Review: The SMART-TD union has rejected the tentative labor agreement brokered by the Biden administration in September. The two largest freight-rail unions, SMART-TD and the BLET, were the last of the twelve unions covered by national bargaining to release the results of their members’ voting on the tentative labor agreement brokered by the Biden administration two months ago. The BLET narrowly voted to approve the contract, but SMART-TD narrowly voted to reject it. Parties will return to negotiation, with a strike first becoming legal on December 9. Even one union going on strike would mean the entire national freight-rail network would shut down because the other unions would not cross a picket line. Four of the twelve unions have voted to reject the Biden-brokered deal (National Review). Axios: As the December deadline creeps closer, the freight rail companies will start shutting down certain shipments — of hazardous chemicals— ahead of a potential strike (Axios).

American Reporter Initially Refused Entry to World Cup Stadium for Wearing Gay Pride Shirt
This is why we cling to our rights as Americans. This is why it is important to protect our liberty and freedoms of speech and expression. Daily Mail: American soccer reporter Grant Wahl claimed he was refused entry to a World Cup stadium in Qatar for wearing a rainbow shirt.  The World Cup in Qatar has faced criticism for ‘sportswashing’ due to the host nation’s poor human rights record, in particular the treatment of the LGBTQ+ community. In Qatar, male homosexuality is punishable by a prison sentence and same-sex marriages are not recognized by the government (Daily Mail). New York Post: FIFA president Gianni Infantino gave a bizarre soliloquy attempting to answer the criticism of Qatar, which has an abysmal human rights record including its usage of migrant labor to construct facilities for hosting the World Cup (New York Post). Grant Wahl: What happened when Qatar World Cup security detained me for 25 minutes for wearing a t-shirt supporting LGBTQ rights, forcibly took my phone and angrily demanded that I remove my t-shirt to enter the stadium. (I refused.) (Twitter).

Disney CEO Bob Chapek Ousted, Replaced with Predecessor Bob Iger
Wall Street Journal: Walt Disney Co.’s board of directors on Sunday night replaced Chief Executive Bob Chapek with Robert Iger, the company’s former chairman and CEO who left the company at the end of last year, according to a company announcement. This month, the company reported weaker-than-expected fourth quarter financial results, killing the momentum built up over a strong year that saw record revenue and profits in multiple divisions, especially the one that includes theme parks. Disney’s theme-park business has recovered strongly since the coronavirus pandemic shut down its venues across the world, but the division continues to subsidize widening losses in the streaming video business. Mr. Chapek has said repeatedly that he expects the streaming business to be profitable by September 2024. In the most recent quarter, though, it lost $1.47 billion, more than twice the year-earlier loss (Wall Street journal). CNBC: Iger also returns under less-than-ideal circumstances. He’ll walk back into the job as a conquering hero to an employee base desperate for leadership and the prospects of better times ahead. But he has repeatedly said he wouldn’t return as CEO, and he has now earned a reputation for undermining several hand-picked successors (CNBC). Chapek’s tenure has been marked with wokeness in parks, shows and movies, political activism and further kowtowing to China.

Thank you for keeping our state safe (Twitter).

Oil Producers Mull Over Increasing Oil Production Amid EU Embargo of Russian Energy
Wall Street Journal: Saudi Arabia and other OPEC oil producers are discussing an output increase, the group’s delegates said, a move that could help heal a rift with the Biden administration and keep energy flowing amid new attempts to blunt Russia’s oil industry over the Ukraine war. A production increase of up to 500,000 barrels a day is now under discussion for OPEC+’s Dec. 4 meeting, delegates said. The move would come a day before the European Union is set to impose an embargo on Russian oil and the Group of Seven wealthy nations’ plans to launch a price cap on Russian crude sales, potentially taking Moscow’s petroleum supplies off the market (Wall Street Journal).

California School Permits ‘After School Satan Club’ Meetings in Cafeteria
Daily Wire: A California elementary school is permitting an “After School Satan Club” to hold monthly meetings in the school’s cafeteria. Paul Hicks, who will lead the club, which was founded by the Satanic Temple and the Reason Alliance, declared, “There’s currently a Good News Club there which is teaching kids to go save souls for Jesus, at the school. We want to give an alternative point of view. … I’m not teaching these kids to be Satanic, I’m not teaching these kids that they need to hail Satan or identify as Satanists, what we’re doing is we’re thinking critical thinking, we’re teaching science, we’re teaching empathy and benevolence” (Daily Wire). Tehachapi News: The superintendent noted that the district has long allowed varied community groups, including religious groups, to use publicly-funded school facilities outside the school day (Tehachapi News).

Few were more hysterical than Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who serves on the January 6 select committee and was named the lead impeachment manager in Trump’s first impeachment (Townhall). Squad Member, Ilhan Omar, Upset Leader McCarthy is Removing Her from Committees for Anti-Semetic Comments
Fox News: House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s pledge to block Democratic Reps. Eric Swalwell, Adam Schiff and “Squad” member Ilhan Omar from committees next Congress drew a strong response from the lawmakers. Omar, a Minnesota Democrat who has been accused of making antisemitic statements, claimed that McCarthy’s pledge was just another example of her being targeted by Republicans. “From the moment I was elected, the Republican Party has made it their mission to use fear, xenophobia, Islamophobia and racism to target me on the House floor and through millions of dollars of campaign ads,” said Omar (Fox News). Kevin McCarthy: Last year, I promised that when I became Speaker, I would remove Rep. Ilhan Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee based on her repeated anti-semitic and anti-American remarks. I’m keeping that promise (Twitter).
