Marijuana is now legal for adult use in 11 states and the District of Columbia. Thirty-three states have legalized medical marijuana in some form. But it is still considered a controlled substance by federal law -- like heroin and cocaine.

Thousands are in jail for marijuana-related offenses, particularly poor people and people of color. Our current policy is both stupid and racist.

Andrew has put forward a plan to resolve the ambiguity and legalize marijuana at the federal level. This would:

• Improve safety
• Increase social equity
• Generate tens of billions of dollars in new revenue based on legal cannabis businesses
