General Meeting Thursday!
|
Come on out to our monthly General Meeting this Thursday, January 9, from 7 to 9 PM at the Gulf Coast ALF (2506 Sutherland)! Houston DSA’s monthly general meetings are where the membership comes together to be in community, discuss the activities going on within our own chapter and the national DSA, and conduct chapter business like elections, votes, or resolutions. RSVP here!
This meeting will have a lot of updates on our plans for 2020, including our first ever local convention and our Socialist Night School. We will also be talking about the Peace Rally against war in Iran we co-hosted earlier today and the next steps you can take to fight U.S. imperialism. You won't want to miss it!
General meetings are open to non-members, though participation in certain activities like elections and votes is reserved for Houston DSA members only (click here to become a member)!
We work to make our meetings as accessible as possible to everyone. To help parents participate, we offer child watch through our Socialist Sprouts program. If you need someone to watch your potty-trained and vaccinated child, let us know!

Last Week in Houston DSA - No War With Iran Peace Rally
|
As we get things rolling this year, we started things off with a phenomenal No War in Iran Peace Rally earlier today. As awful as the cause for our coming together was, I find it hard to write about this with anything but joy at the demonstration of solidarity I witnessed. Together with a diverse set of Houston organizations, we heard from Iranian Americans, Palestinians, veterans, and activists from across our city speak together with one voice. No war in Iran. End all sanctions. Rejoin the Iran Nuclear Deal, and withdraw all troops from Iraq. Thank you to everyone who came out. Thank you to all of the organizations we worked with in coalition to host this event. Thank you to all of the people brave enough to speak out against imperialism and the military industrial complex. This isn't over, and we will have to fight like hell and organize if we want to protect the lives of working people across the world and specifically in Iran. Please, come out to our General Meeting this Thursday to hear more about what we need to do next.
