Kevin McCarthy went on Fox News yesterday morning to confirm that if he becomes Speaker, he will retaliate against me and remove me from serving on the Intelligence Committee.

“You have Adam Schiff... we will not allow him to be on the Intel Committee either.”

It’s pathetic. And an early sign that he will do the bidding of the most extreme elements of his party.

McCarthy, the GOP leader who led the charge of over 100 House Republicans that voted to decertify the 2020 election on January 6, and then went to grovel at Trump’s feet at Mar-a-Lago, is now promising to do even more of Trump's dirty work.

And here’s why he’s going to retaliate against me — for the last six years, I have worked hard to hold Trump and his cronies accountable for their relentless attacks on our democracy. But that’s Kevin for you.

Under McCarthy’s leadership, Republicans have perpetuated the Big Lie. And because of the GOP’s midterm flop, extremists like Marjorie Taylor Greene and others in the QAnon crazy caucus will carry immense sway in such a narrow majority — including in committee positions.

McCarthy is emboldening the far-right extremists, and with these leadership changes, GOP policy won’t focus on the issues facing Americans. Instead, they will do nothing but endless and meritless investigations of President Biden.

McCarthy’s red wave never made it to the shore, and now he is prepared to empower the most extreme Republicans in his caucus to gain power. So please, John, can you chip in to help us fight back against this effort and the many more that are sure to come from McCarthy and other GOP extremists?
