I just got back from the Jewish march in New York

Dear John,

I just marched with over 25,000 Jews and Jewish allies in New York. Shoulder to shoulder, we stood together against hate and declared, “Enough is enough!”

It was an empowering gathering, one I was privileged to address as AJC CEO, and a wake-up call to America to rising antisemitism in our nation.

The sad fact is that all too often, it is the most visible of our brethren, Jews who are easily identifiable because they proudly wear yarmulkes and traditional clothing, that have become the number one targets.

That’s why AJC has declared tomorrow, Monday, January 6, #JewishandProud [link removed] Day.

The aim is simple: for Jews of all backgrounds to display our identities visibly and proudly, and for people of all backgrounds to show solidarity with the Jewish community. Together, we can send a powerful and unmistakable message that we will not be cowed or intimidated.

If you don’t usually wear something that identifies you as Jewish, please do so tomorrow and tell us about it on social media using #JewishandProud or via AJC.org/JewishandProud [link removed].

If you’re an ally of the Jewish people, tell us why you support the Jewish community using #JewishandProud or via AJC.org/JewishandProud [link removed].

At the beginning of this new year, let’s commit to standing together and declare that an attack on any Jews for the simple reason that they are Jews is an attack on us all. Let’s proclaim that we are all #JewishandProud.

Sincerely,

David Harris
AJC CEO
