To prepare for the upcoming 2023 filing season, the IRS will shut down the 1040 Modernized e-file (MeF) on November 26, 2022, at 10:59 p.m. Central time.

During this shutdown, you will not be able to electronically submit individual income tax returns through your tax software. This includes Minnesota Forms M1, Individual Income Tax, and Forms M1PR, Homestead Credit Refund (for Homeowners) and Renter?s Property Tax Refund.

*Can I still submit Forms M1 and M1PR by mail?*

Yes. We will still receive and process paper returns during the IRS e-file shutdown.

*When will electronic filing resume?*

We will announce the opening e-file date for the 2023 filing season after the IRS announces their opening date. ?
