Pelosi, the first woman to hold the speakership, has been the face of House Democrats for two decades. 

While remaining in Congress, Pelosi will leave the post in January 2023 following tight election losses that cost Democrats their House majority. The California politician announced her departure from the role a day after Republicans claimed the majority of the House.

However, this is pale in comparison to the birds that will die if the climate crisis isn't addressed through solutions like renewable energy.
