We need your help to prevent another genocide from taking place in Brazil.
Just a few months ago, in August of this year, a man described as “the loneliest
man on the planet” was found dead in the Tanaru Indigenous Territory in the
Brazilian Amazon. He was the last living member of his tribe, and his death completed a decades-long effort to completely wipe out his people.

This erasure of an entire people was not accidental — it was brutally
deliberate, a calculated decision by cattle ranchers who wanted to steal their
land. We can only imagine what horrors he witnessed in his life, and the
loneliness of his existence after all his family, friends, everyone he’d known,
were killed.
For over 50 years, Survival has been fighting alongside Indigenous peoples in
Brazil to stop these genocides. It’s an uphill battle. Even with Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro leaving
office, his political and corporate cronies remain powerful enough for stories
like this to be repeated over and over again. He once said: “It’s a shame that
the Brazilian cavalry hasn’t been as efficient as the Americans, who
exterminated the Indians.”
We are more determined than ever to continue the fight against the violence and
cruelty inflicted on Brazil’s Indigenous peoples in the name of power and
profit. But we need your help .
