Holding FTX Accountable

The collapse of FTX makes it abundantly clear we need to establish a legislative framework and provide clarity to the treatment of digital assets. To ensure we get the answers Americans and FTX's customers deserve, the House Financial Services Committee will be holding bipartisan hearings. It’s essential that we hold bad actors accountable so responsible players can harness technology to build a more inclusive financial system. Congratulations Regina Moody!

This week I had the honor of delivering a speech on the floor of the House of Representatives honoring the career of a woman dedicated to serving our community in western North Carolina. On Monday, I celebrated the career of Regina Moody who has retired after 40 years as the President and CEO of Holy Angels. Under her leadership, the organization has served as a tremendous resource for the community as they fulfill their mission of “loving, living, and learning for the differently abled.” Please join me in wishing Ms. Moody and her family the very best as she begins a very well-deserved retirement. 20 Straight Months of Over 150,00 Illegal Border Crossings

As we approach almost two full years of the Biden presidency, the border crisis continues to get worse. In October, there were 230,678 illegal immigrant encounters at the southern border, according to a CBP report released on Tuesday. That is a 334% increase from the average number of encounters in October under President Trump. The Democrats' bad policies have led to 20 straight months of over 150,000 illegal border crossings and over one million illegal immigrants settling in the United States. We need a return to common sense policies that keep our borders secure.

Museum showcases memorabilia to honor Granite Falls veterans

Last week, we recognized the service and sacrifice of the brave men and women who have served our nation on Veterans Day. In their honor, the Granite Falls History and Transportation Museum is currently hosting an exhibit dedicated to local veterans. The museum has been decorated with items commemorating the service of local veterans, including a veteran that landed on Omaha beach during WWII.
