1) COVID – The Real Story Of Fear, Lies, And Deception
As most of you, our faithful readers know, we at CTUP not only opposed, but led from the very start the crusade AGAINST Covid business lockdowns, school closures, and stsy-at-home orders. Most policy groups – even on the right – got caught up in the mindless hysteria and supported them.
Last month we held our Washington policy summit and dedicated one of the expert panels to exposing all of the mistakes and, yes, even deliberate lies by the government perpetrated to create an environment of fear and submission. No one was worse than Anthony Fauci, who must go down in history as one of America's greatest villains.
Our panel included four of the most knowledgeable authorities on the Covid conspiracy. This included Scott Atlas, the White House Covid expert; Economists Casey Mulligan; and Steve Hanke, who conducted some of the most devastating cost-benefit analyses on lockdowns; and our own Phil Kerpen, who provided the latest science every day during Covid.
The good news is that our friends at CSPAN covered our event and aired it last week. We urge you to take the time to watch this program.
It is a chilling story of government incompetence and deception.
Never again!
2) Biden's Spending Blowout in One Chart
We've run similar versions of this before, but Bruce Mehlman's rundown of the major spending programs of the last couple of years caught our eye:
Republicans in Congress have the leverage to claw back $130 billion in spending at the end of this year by refusing to waive statutory PAYGO. That will hardly make a dent in the Biden spending spree, but it would be a good start.
They should also immediately rescind the hundreds of billions in the bills listed above that haven’t been spent yet.
3) Chart Of The Day: Home Heating Oil Price Shock
This chart comes from the Energy Department and explains why home heating costs could double this winter. By the way, it is not shown in this chart, but the 2020 prices under Trump were even slightly lower than the 2021 numbers. How do you like green energy now? This means home heating costs have doubled under Biden.
4) Moderate Winners Nudge San Francisco Away From Crazy
One of the disappointments in this election was that voters in heavily liberal areas didn’t shift en masse to throw out the progressive bums who’ve brought crime, the homeless, job-killing taxes, and regulation to toothier cities.
Not in New York or L.A. uggh.
But, there was a breakthrough in San Francisco, the original Crazy Town of U.S. politics. Since only 7 percent of city voters are Republicans, politics is fought between radical and moderate factions of the Democratic Party. The moderates made major gains.
Joel Engardio, who has been active in successful recalls of the city’s progressive school board and district attorney, defeated an incumbent progressive supervisor - the first incumbent to lose in over 20 years.
Brooke Jenkins, the new moderate District Attorney appointed by Mayor London Breed, won re-election. So too did two of Breed’s appointees to school board seats
Even cities once thought lost to common sense can find a way back with common sense messaging and locals who want to fight back.
5) California Faces Another Massive Budget Deficit
This may be the least surprising headline of all time. We predicted it last year when Governor Hair Jell was passing out money like Hershey Kisses. Now the cupboard has is bare again.
Sacramento apparently ran out of the first round of Biden's blue state bailout bucks. Say hello to yet another Golden State bailout.
