The Inflation Reduction Act made it so that Americans on Medicare would never pay more than $35 for insulin. But it could have gone so much further―by offering that same price cap to everyone.
In fact, it did―but every Republican voted to challenge the inclusion of people under the age of 65 under procedural rules. That’s right: Every Republican in Congress voted to let Big Pharma continue to price-gouge the American people.
Insulin should be free. Its patent was sold for $1, and the scientists said “Insulin does not belong to me, it belongs to the world.” But Pharma Greed has gotten in the way.
