If we don't act now, we could lose some of our best tools for saving endangered species.? ? ? ? ? BREAKING: The Trump administration is beginning its second wave of attacks on the Endangered Species Act.
Friend ? the Interior Department has just announced it will narrow its definition for what qualifies as an endangered species "habitat." This is big ? it would severely limit the lands and waters that are put under protection by the ESA. Once this takes effect, it will open areas essential to endangered animals' survival to logging, drilling, and mining leases. We cannot afford a second blow to the ESA after last year's devastating rollbacks.
We need your help. We just kicked off our January Membership Drive. It's the most important month of the year for LCV ? it's when we bring in the bulk of the funding for campaigns like this fight to save the ESA, all year long.
A major donor has just agreed to contribute $500,000 to fund our campaigns in 2020 ? only IF 10,000 LCV members pitch in first. That's huge.
THIS PART IS REALLY IMPORTANT: In reaching that goal, small donations count the same as big ones. Renewing your membership for just $5 could make the difference between funding some major environmental campaigns this year or totally scaling back.

The ESA is one of our most effective conservation laws ? it has saved 99% of listed species from extinction. That's because of the great lengths that go into protecting the lands and natural resources these species rely on ? and all other members of the same ecosystem benefit as well.
By limiting what habitat is protected under the ESA, we'll inevitably lose the urgent fight to save the biodiversity we have left.
Friend ? this fight is going to be huge, but it's only one of the ways your membership will make a difference. I want to give you a little more info about what we're up against right now ? and why hitting this goal matters so much. Because despite a fourth major spill from the Keystone Pipeline, the Trump administration is allowing TC Energy Corp (formerly TransCanada) to move forward with its expansion ? called Keystone XL. We're making an urgent push to block Keystone XL, but we have to move quickly if we have any shot at all. You can help. Renew your membership with the League of Conservation Voters today for $5 or more. [link removed] Because the Trump administration could sell access to areas around the Grand Canyon to allow uranium mining at any moment, furthering the legacy of toxic pollution affecting nearby communities. The Grand Canyon has been home to Indigenous communities ? including the Havasupai, Hualapai, Hopi, and Navajo Nation communities ? for millennia, and they rely on these lands for sustenance. Congress is pushing to protect the Grand Canyon, but we need major grassroots pressure if we have any shot at succeeding. Please ? renew your membership for $5 or more. [link removed] Because the Trump administration is proposing a rule for the EPA that would disallow the use of vast quantities of scientific data for setting limits on pollution. This would virtually end meaningful implementation of significant parts of the Clean Air Act and many more bedrock environmental laws. We're organizing to stop the new rule ? and to let the EPA use the best available science ? but we can't keep up the fight without your help. Friend ? I want you to know just how much your support matters. Renew your membership for $5 or more. [link removed] Because the 2020 race is in full swing, and we need the environmental movement to push ? HARD. We're getting the candidates on the record to make sure they have serious plans to fight climate change, including their ideas to invest in communities that are hit hardest by its effects. No matter what, we need the next president to act on climate change. The only way that happens is if the environmental movement mobilizes in a major way. We need YOUR help ? renew your membership for $5 or more. [link removed] Because even after Trump pulled the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement, there's still a real shot at holding ourselves to the carbon-reduction commitments we made as a country. After aggressive grassroots campaigns, state and local governments are setting their own emissions limits. This is stuff that doesn't always make frontpage news ? but it's huge, and it only happens when the environmental movement demands it. Friend, your $5 membership keeps this work going. [link removed] I hope we can count you in ? it's a race against the clock to save some of these imperiled species. We can't let Trump take all the power out of the ESA without a fight ? but the coming weeks are going to be intense. Right now, resources are running low ? we need your help.
Don't sit this one out, friend. Renew your membership with LCV for just $5 today ? [link removed]
