Dear John xxxxxx,

On Thursday, my treasured friend, Nancy Pelosi, announced that she will be leaving House leadership, but will remain in Congress representing her beloved city of San Francisco. This week marks 16 years since I was able to second her nomination as Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. In my nominating speech back in 2006, I promised that she was going to be a leader for everyday, hardworking Americans. Today, I can proudly say that she went above and beyond the duties of her office. Generations of Americans are better off because of the progressive leadership of Nancy Pelosi. Speaker Pelosi will go down in history as the most effective speaker in the history of our country.

As we head towards the end of the year, and the end of the 117th Congress, there are still many things left to accomplish. At the top of the must-do list is passing the FY’23 appropriations bills by December 16th. This week, the Senate also passed the Respect for Marriage Act, which would codify protections for same-sex unions. The House passed this legislation earlier this year, but we must vote on it again before we can send it to President Biden’s desk to become law. I am looking forward to closing out the year strong as we continue to deliver results for the American people.

I am proud to report that, this week, three of my bills passed the House of Representatives. The Lymphedema Treatment Act will expand access to medical compression garments that Lymphedema patients rely on to treat their painful, incurable swelling. The INFORM Consumers Act will direct online marketplaces to verify the identity of high-volume third-party sellers of consumer products. This will ensure consumers are not purchasing dangerous, counterfeit, stolen products. The PAST Act will prohibit horse soring, the despicable act of deliberately inflicting pain on a horse to force them into an exaggerated high-stepping gait known as the big lick. I am grateful for the overwhelming bipartisan support all three of these bills received, and I look forward to seeing them advance in the Senate.

If you need any assistance from a federal agency, whether it be a Social Security problem, an immigration case, or a postal issue, just to name a few, my office is here to help. Head to my website for further assistance and information.

Have a safe and joyful Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,
