Tell President Biden:
Now is the time to go BIG on climate action
The past two years have shown us how challenging it can be to enact climate legislation by the slimmest of pro-environment majority margins. And next year, we’re facing a narrow anti-climate majority in the House — but President Biden has the authority to take executive action right now.
Tell President Biden: Use your authority to take bold executive action that addresses the climate crisis.

Friend — as the final outcomes are still being determined in extremely close Congressional races, it’s clear we’ll have an anti-climate majority take control of the House next year. And as their words and plans indicate, they’re likely to derail progress on climate and clean energy at every step of the way for their cronies in Big Oil.
But even with Big Oil sympathizers narrowly in power in the House, there is progress to be made. Now is the time for President Biden to use his authority to act on climate.
These are just a few of the actions we’re asking President Biden to take:
- Declare a climate emergency. This could make additional federal funding available to address the climate crisis, support clean energy solutions, and advance environmental justice.
- Require companies to disclose climate-related risks. Federal rules require companies to disclose financial risks to investors — including anyone with a 401(k) account. But right now, they aren’t yet required to disclose climate risks, which are becoming bigger and bigger liabilities. It’s time for the Securities and Exchange Commission to close the loophole.
- Protect clean air and water. The executive branch has the power to set environmental and public health standards that ensure clean air and water. President Biden has the power to strengthen those standards — he should use it right now.

Earlier this year, the environmental movement made history by helping to pass the Inflation Reduction Act — Congress’s largest-ever investment in climate action — into law.
That legislation will give us cleaner, more affordable energy and transportation, and healthier communities, but it won’t get us all the way there on its own. To truly overcome the climate crisis and the magnitude of its challenges, we need to take bold action on all possible fronts.
President Biden has the authority to act without additional legislation from Congress. He must use his executive authority to pursue clean energy, advance environmental justice, and combat the impact of climate change.
Please add your name today. Together, we can show President Biden that the people are not divided on this issue. He can and must take action — but it will only happen if we demand it. Help us reach our goal today >>
Thank you, Friend. It’s because of steadfast support from people like you that we’re finally making progress in the fight against climate change. We can’t turn back now.
Onward,
Gene Karpinski
