John,
Our nation sets students up to fail by forcing them to need higher
education to secure employment while punishing them with crushing student
loans that make it nearly impossible to afford housing, groceries, and
medical bills for years on end.
That’s why President Biden took a step in the right direction, working to
cancel up to $20,000 in student loan debt per borrower. Unfortunately,
Trump-appointed Judge Mark Pittman recently issued a ruling declaring the
president's student loan forgiveness plan is illegal.
With this last-minute setback, millions of Americans are unprepared for
payments to begin in January and will lose out on key changes to the
repayment plans like Income-Driven Repayment that they were counting on to
afford to pay any remaining debt.
Once borrowers are forced to start paying their student loans that have
now been paused for years without any of these significant changes, they
will be prevented from buying a home, delayed from starting a family, or
priced out of affording basic necessities. Too many people will be forced
to deplete their limited savings just as working people recover from the
pandemic and record-high inflation.

forgiveness plan, can you sign on to push him to extend the student loan
repayments until cancellation is awarded?

For too long higher education has been inaccessible and unattainable for
working people, especially for Black and brown communities, thus deepening
economic and racial inequality.
We shouldn’t be punishing young people for seeking higher education.
Education should be available and accessible to all those who want it --
no matter your race, gender, zip code, or income.
With some setbacks to canceling student debt, we must continue working
together to make it a reality.
[ [link removed] ]President Biden must address student loan borrowers, and extend the
payment pause until all obstacles to student debt cancellation are
cleared. Sign the petition to President Biden: Extend student loan
repayments until cancellation is awarded.

Thanks for signing! Together we'll push President Biden to take action.

Since our founding in 2004, every campaign staffer we have trained, every
voter we have contacted, and every single candidate we put over was
directly funded by members like you.
With a strong grassroots campaign, we can use our experience and strategy
to tap into the diverse coalition that it’s going to take to keep Georgia
blue.
It all comes down to Georgia and what we do to win. We can drive another
big runoff victory, but we only have a few weeks to make it happen.

important voter contact programs. So if you can, please contribute $23.18
(our average this year), to fully fund a robust campaign in the Georgia
runoff.
