It's World Toilet Day

Global Citizen, 

For India's 1.38 billion people, water and sanitation are improving, and on World Toilet Day, we’re celebrating two stories of change that have brought clean water and sanitation to cities across India and lifted over 6 million children and families out of poverty — thanks to your actions. 

At Global Citizen's 2016 Festival, Chris Martin called on world leaders to address global water and sanitation, and deliver commitments to organizations like Yuva Unstoppable in Mumbai. Today, clean water and more toilets have enabled school students like Nandini to continue her education in Mumbai. 

Further north in the city of Shimla, the city was able to replace pipelines and install 25,000 water meters, fighting a jaundice outbreak thanks to a World Bank commitment at Global Citizen Festival in New York, in 2014. 

Billions of people still lack access to clean water and sanitation around the world, but your actions can help eliminate poverty once and for all.
