Nearly 240 million — that’s 1 in 10 — children in the world have some form of disability.
Children already bear the heaviest burden of challenges like malnutrition, climate change and economic inequality. For children with disabilities, the impacts of those challenges are amplified. They can experience barriers that limit their ability to function in daily life, access social services and grow as part of their communities.
UNICEF works to ensure that every child can overcome these barriers and reach their full potential. Last year, UNICEF reached 4.8 million children with disabilities across 148 countries with disability-inclusive programs.
What does this look like? It’s meeting the needs of children caught in conflict in Yemen, improving access to equitable and inclusive education in Afghanistan and providing care to children fleeing war in Ukraine. Start a monthly gift to sustain these efforts and more. |
UNICEF improves the lives and outcomes for children with disabilities by pushing governments to improve disability-focused policies, creating access to inclusive social services, fighting discrimination and amplifying the voices and rights of children.
Help UNICEF reach children around the world with your monthly gift. Your consistent support will maintain our progress for a brighter future where every child can thrive. |
