Since 2016, we’ve been on a mission to build power in state legislatures by electing progressive champions in the most competitive districts across the country.
In six years, we’ve flipped seats and chambers, electing more than 200 progressive state legislators, including 33 candidates so far this cycle.

Last week, we highlighted a few of our big victories, and today we’re excited to share a few more:
🎉 In Arizona, Lorena Austin just became one of the few openly queer elected officials in the state legislature and the first openly gender-nonconforming Chicanx legislator in the United States.
🎉 In Texas, Ann Johnson is a former Chief Human Trafficking Prosecutor, teacher, small business owner, and “Freshman Legislator of the Year.” She is now the first LGBTQ+ representative to be re-elected in her district.
🎉 In Pennsylvania, Johanny Cepeda-Freytiz just became the first Latina to sit in the state legislature. Dr. Arvind Venkat is now the first Indian American Representative in the state house and the only physician in the legislature. Melissa Cerrato is a working mom and community leader whose victory — by a few dozen votes — helped clinch a Democratic majority in the state house for the first time in 12 years.
